About the position

The IT Specialist (CustSpt) position at the Naval Surface Warfare Center - Corona Division involves managing telecommunications standards and policies, ensuring quality assurance for communication installations, and acting as a liaison between various defense agencies. The role includes overseeing service programs, managing helpdesk operations, and performing circuit installations and troubleshooting. This position is critical for maintaining effective communication services within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update telecommunications standards and policies for the Corona site.
  • Validate customer requirements and review facilities projects for communication needs.
  • Perform project quality assurance inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Act as the program manager for all telecommunications service programs.
  • Serve as a liaison between Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).
  • Validate, create, submit, and manage circuit order requests.
  • Initiate and manage contractual actions for voice, data, cable, and Enhanced Mobile Satellite Service (EMSS).
  • Manage the ServiceNow Helpdesk, including ticket queues and service level agreements.
  • Direct technician taskings and collect metrics for service performance.
  • Perform circuit installations, troubleshooting, and assist with systems migration.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12) grade level in the Federal service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar helpdesk management systems.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications industry standards and practices.
  • Familiarity with project management principles.
