About the position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring that the cloud remains operational. As part of this team, you will be involved in supporting all AWS data centers, which includes managing servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. The role of a Data Center Technician is crucial as it involves troubleshooting and resolving a variety of infrastructure issues that may arise within the data center environment. You will work alongside a diverse team of professionals, including software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, and security experts, all dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of safety and security while providing exceptional service to our customers. In this position, you will be the primary resolver for your support team, gaining valuable troubleshooting skills across different hardware and software cases. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing hardware and network problems, performing physical repairs, and conducting root cause analysis of equipment failures. You will also be expected to adhere to strict safety standards and promote a strong safety culture within the team. The role requires working rotating shifts, including weekends, to ensure the data center operates 24/7. Local travel may be necessary, and a valid EU driving license is required due to the remote locations of some data centers. Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing hardware and network problems followed by physical repairs
  • Troubleshooting events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Performing root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Manual handling and lifting of equipment as required
  • Following and maintaining the highest safety standards
  • Encouraging a world-class safety culture
  • Working rotating shifts (morning/late/night) as well as weekends to maintain the 24/7 data center environment
  • Engaging with other solution groups for complex problem resolution

Requirements

  • IT hardware troubleshooting related experience
  • Completed formal education/apprenticeship or training in IT related field
  • Very good command of English

Nice-to-haves

  • Diploma or equivalent formal qualification in IT related field
  • Basic knowledge of Linux
  • Experience with network protocols
  • Experience in Data Center operations
