About the position

The IT Specialist (INFOSEC/NETWORK) position focuses on managing and securing network systems within the U.S. Electronic Health Record Modernization initiative. The role involves developing network management plans, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards, and providing technical analysis to enhance network security capabilities. This position is critical in safeguarding sensitive health information and ensuring the integrity of network operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop network management, systems, and operations plans, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on managing system and/or network cybersecurity projects to meet DoD/VA EHRM authorization requirements.
  • Prepare and review network and security management reports for submission to Department senior leadership.
  • Provide technical analysis and assessment of network security capabilities and identify enhancements.
  • Review planning and programming documents issued by Department level authorities and develop appropriate responses regarding infrastructure and data security.
  • Develop and disseminate cybersecurity guidance and instructions to subordinate work groups and other departments.
  • Evaluate reports to determine network health based on standardized cybersecurity software applications.
  • Plan, design, develop, implement, and manage joint network infrastructure protection programs.
  • Anticipate, assess, and minimize system vulnerabilities to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of automated systems.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in Cybersecurity at a senior level.
  • Experience in network administration and LAN management.
  • Strong analysis skills related to cybersecurity and network security capabilities.
  • Proficient in computer networking and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of security engineering and cybersecurity principles.
