About the position

The IT Specialist (INFOSEC) position is responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of information technology systems within the Department of Defense. The incumbent will develop, implement, and coordinate activities to protect and restore IT systems, ensuring compliance with security requirements and policies. This role involves conducting security assessments, providing guidance on cybersecurity best practices, and participating in policy-making to address security issues in operational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement security policies and procedures for IT systems.
  • Conduct Security Assessments and Authorizations (A&A) of various systems and networks.
  • Provide guidance on compliance with DoD cybersecurity and Information Assurance requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate systems' compliance with IT security requirements.
  • Formulate policies based on security assessments and requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for risk management.
  • Create reports and documentation to support security authorization processes.
  • Participate in technical exchange meetings to provide security guidance.
  • Serve as a representative in working groups addressing information assurance issues.
  • Assist in the application of AIS security throughout the system life cycle.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • IT-related degree or appropriate 8140/8570 certification based on the Defense Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF).
  • Experience with DoD and Federal cloud computing assessment models.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IT security principles and methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with various types of computer architectures and network security methodologies.
  • Knowledge of identity and access management systems.
  • Experience in assessing security systems designs and recognizing vulnerabilities.
