About the position

The IT Specialist (INFOSEC/SYSADMIN) position within the Department of Defense is responsible for developing, installing, operating, and managing secure and non-secure voice, video, and data systems architecture. This role involves implementing and maintaining organizational IT systems, conducting risk assessments, and coordinating with various stakeholders to enhance IT capabilities. The position requires a strong focus on security compliance and technical support in a Microsoft operating environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, install, operate, and manage secure and non-secure voice, video, and data systems architecture.
  • Implement, integrate, deploy, and maintain production systems of the organizational IT systems.
  • Analyze system functions and develop transition plans and strategies.
  • Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed IT systems.
  • Coordinate with representatives from DoD, industry, and customer organizations to recommend actions on emergent technologies.
  • Participate in developing and forecasting IT budgets.
  • Manage network systems including 2019 AD, 2019 Exchange, and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
  • Integrate commercial software packages and perform backups and restoration using Commvault.
  • Perform help desk support for networks at local, client, and other offsite locations.
  • Plan, evaluate, select, and process necessary IT and encryption equipment, software, and services.
  • Integrate, configure, and troubleshoot network backbone equipment.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the IT field.
  • Experience in developing specifications to ensure compliance with security requirements.
  • Conducting security accreditation reviews and providing guidance in migration activities.
  • Evaluating new security authentication technologies and developing technical requirements for applications.
  • Analyzing and determining optimal hardware and software configurations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with tactical LAN encryption devices (TACLANE/KIV).
  • Knowledge of network intrusion and detection monitors.
