About the position

Leidos is seeking a Junior IT Specialist to support the Navy's IT services program in New Orleans, LA. The role involves installing, configuring, servicing, repairing, and maintaining IT systems in both standalone and client-server environments. The specialist will work with various IT systems, including Microsoft servers and Defense Message Systems, to enhance network operations and cybersecurity services for the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and resolve customer Information Systems (IS) problems.
• Effect required hardware upgrades and repairs to maintain mission capability.
• Install and configure wireless hubs, routers, switches, and various transmission media.
• Install, optimize, and troubleshoot Local Area Network (LAN) and Base Area Networks (BAN).
• Ensure proper installation and configuration of workstation hardware and software for efficient operation on the network.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2 years of relevant experience in IT support.
• US Citizen with an active DOD Secret security clearance.
• CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Microsoft Fundamentals certification.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6).
• Familiarity with Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP).
• Knowledge of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
• Experience with Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs).
• Experience with Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
• Understanding of Network Address Translation (NAT).
