About the position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Information Technology (IT) specialist responsible for base level administration, operation, and maintenance of the installation's computer network and for providing technical assistance, training, and support to management and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Administers the base local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN).
  • Determines customer requirements and assists customers by recognizing and analyzing trends and providing instruction and orientation services.
  • Provides customer technical assistance and support.
  • Conducts feasibility studies to identify and analyze network failures and analyzes data to determine if trends exist which forecast the need for future replacement or modification of network hardware and software.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station.
  • The employee may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ph.D. or equivalent Doctoral degree in relevant fields or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
  • IT-related experience demonstrating competencies in Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving.
