About the position

The IT Specialist (Security Operations Center Manager) position is responsible for overseeing the Cybersecurity Unit within the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). This role involves managing the Enterprise Security Operations Center, enhancing the Commission's Information Security Program, and ensuring effective incident response and threat mitigation. The SOC Manager will also coordinate cybersecurity exercises and represent the Commission in various cybersecurity initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight, implementation, and enhancements to the Commission's Information Security Program's Enterprise Security Operations Center.
• Serve as an expert and authority for the development of policies, operational procedures, standards, and guidance to enhance protection of CFTC's data and networks.
• Utilize data from various cyber defense tools to analyze events and mitigate threats.
• Manage the Enterprise Security Operations Center contract and perform contracting Officer Representative (COR) duties.
• Represent the Commission through coordination of cybersecurity exercises and trainings with external entities.
• Investigate, analyze, and respond to cyber incidents within the network environment.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Experience must be IT-related, demonstrated through paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific training.
• Attention to Detail: Thoroughness in performing work and conscientious about detail.
• Customer Service: Ability to assess client needs and provide quality service.
• Oral Communication: Effective expression of information to individuals or groups.
• Problem Solving: Identifying problems and using sound judgment to generate solutions.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/CT-13 level, including leading incident response activities and conducting threat intelligence.
