About the position

As an IT Specialist focusing on System Administration and Information Security within the Department of Defense, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational integrity and performance of training systems. Your primary responsibilities will include the day-to-day maintenance and network administration of these systems, which are vital for training personnel. You will be tasked with modifying existing systems, providing installation support, and verifying documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy. In this role, you will also be responsible for delivering operational training to users and other personnel associated with the training systems. This involves not only teaching them how to effectively use the systems but also ensuring they understand the underlying principles of operation and maintenance. Evaluating system performance will be a key part of your duties, as you will conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshooting to detect any malfunctions that may arise. When systems are out of order, you will utilize analytical testing and troubleshooting techniques to diagnose issues, locate malfunctioning components, and perform necessary repairs to restore functionality. Additionally, you will review all engineering documentation related to hardware and software changes on assigned trainer systems, which includes flow charts, mathematical models, report listings, and test procedures. Your attention to detail and technical expertise will be essential in maintaining the high standards expected in a Department of Defense environment.
