About the position

As an IT Specialist (SysAdmin) within the Department of Defense, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Sea Range Systems Division. Your primary responsibilities will include acting as a Networks and System Administrator, where you will leverage your knowledge of Cybersecurity to ensure the integrity and security of IT systems. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, technicians, scientists, and IT professionals to manage and support ongoing operations and projects effectively. This position requires you to assist in various aspects of project management, including the design, procurement, integration, and maintenance of both new and existing IT systems. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for managing software updates, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), patching, scanning, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. Your expertise will be essential in performing system administrative tasks across a range of technologies, including legacy systems and modern platforms such as Windows-based systems, VMware suite, and in-house software applications. You will also be tasked with creating scripts, tools, and processes aimed at improving the efficiency, functionality, and capacity of both classified and unclassified enterprise environments. This position is critical to maintaining the operational readiness of IT systems within the Department of Defense, and you will be expected to uphold the highest standards of performance and security. Your contributions will directly impact the effectiveness of the Sea Range Systems Division, ensuring that all systems operate smoothly and securely in support of national defense objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Support all systems within the Sea Range Systems Division as a Networks and System Administrator.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, scientists, and IT professionals to accomplish projects and support ongoing operations.
  • Assist in project management, design, procurement, integration, and maintenance of new and existing IT systems.
  • Manage software updates, STIGs, patching, scanning, and troubleshooting issues for system owners, developers, and users.
  • Perform system administrative tasks in a dynamic environment of legacy and modern technology.
  • Create scripts, tools, and processes to improve efficiency, functionality, and capacity of enterprise environments.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must complete a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random testing.
  • At least one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private/public sector.
  • Demonstrated competencies in Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with embedded software and in-house software platforms.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and protocols.
  • Familiarity with VMware suite and Windows-based systems.
