About the position

As an IT Specialist (SysAdmin) within the Sea Range Systems Division, you will play a crucial role in supporting all systems and ensuring their optimal performance. This position requires a strong foundation in both network and system administration, with a particular emphasis on cybersecurity practices. You will be part of a collaborative team that includes engineers, technicians, scientists, and IT professionals, all working together to achieve project goals and maintain ongoing operations. Your contributions will be vital in managing and enhancing the IT infrastructure that supports various projects within the division. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in project management activities, which include the design, procurement, integration, and maintenance of both new and existing IT systems. Your expertise will be essential in supporting system owners, developers, and users by managing software updates, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), patching, scanning, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. This dynamic environment will require you to perform system administrative tasks across a range of technologies, including legacy systems and modern solutions such as embedded software, Windows-based systems, and the VMware suite. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to create scripts, tools, and processes aimed at improving the efficiency, functionality, and capacity of both classified and unclassified enterprise environments. Your ability to adapt to changing technologies and requirements will be key to your success in this position, as you work to ensure that all systems operate smoothly and securely.

Responsibilities

  • Support all systems within the Sea Range Systems Division as a Networks and System Administrator (SA).
  • Operate within a team of engineers, technicians, scientists, and IT professionals to accomplish projects and support ongoing operations.
  • Assist in project management, design, procurement, integration, and maintenance of new and existing IT systems.
  • Manage software updates, STIGs, patching, scanning, and troubleshooting issues for system owners, developers, and users.
  • Perform system administrative tasks in a dynamic environment of legacy and modern technology, including embedded software, Windows-based systems, and VMware suite.
  • Create scripts, tools, and processes to improve efficiency, functionality, and capacity of enterprise classified and unclassified environments.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of network and system administration.
  • Experience with cybersecurity practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in managing software updates and troubleshooting issues.
  • Experience with legacy and modern technology systems, including embedded software and Windows-based systems.
