About the position

Serves as the Blue Grass Chemical Activity (BGCA) subject matter expert (SME) on all matters involving the operation of computer systems. This is a Temporary Appointment not to exceed 18-OCT-2025. The Blue Grass Chemical Activity will be undergoing a reduction-in-force (RIF) effective 22 January 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the technical expert on all matters relating to applications, network development and administration and electronic data archival.
  • Performs various assignments related to total solution implementation to include: maintenance and operation of workstations, servers, and network equipment connected to the air-gap computer systems.
  • Implements solutions for local networking, enlarging memory, and clustering of servers and workstations.
  • Serves as system administrator for the LAN, which enables approximately 12 computers/terminals to have the same programs, utilities, and databases.
  • Performs applications and systems integration duties including studying the work processes with Lean/Sigma Six methodology to select and/or develop routines.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs problems with Windows, SQL Server, Oracle, and/or Cisco systems.
  • Identifies the specific elements to be used, develops program layouts, interrelationships, sequences, and internal logic.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires a SECRET security clearance.
  • This position requires participation in the Chemical Incident or Mishap Response and Assistance (CIMRA) situations and serve on teams dedicated to controlling CIMRA situations after being trained for the particular duty involved.
  • This position requires possession of a valid, State-issued motor vehicle driver's license.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain IA Level II certification IAW DoD Publication 8570.01-M within 6 months of appointment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met.
