About the position

The IT Specialist (Systems Analysis) position at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) involves serving as a technical expert in field support for various organizations within the Air Traffic Organization (ATO), other FAA divisions, government entities, contractors, and international partners. The incumbent will be responsible for providing second-level engineering, maintenance, and support for the E-IDS system, which is critical for ensuring the performance and reliability of aviation systems. This role requires the design, development, and execution of complex technical analyses to identify and resolve issues affecting system performance, maintainability, reliability, usability, or service continuity. In addition to technical support, the incumbent will identify system requirements and assess the need for modifications to objectives, procedures, techniques, and equipment. They will also evaluate the adequacy of technical documentation necessary for maintaining and certifying the E-IDS system. The role includes advising second-level engineering support teams and providing input to management regarding project plans, resources, schedules, priorities, and goals. The incumbent will maintain awareness of project statuses and recommend adjustments based on established priorities. Furthermore, the incumbent will review the work of project engineers on complex projects to ensure technical accuracy and adequacy. They will provide feedback to supervisors and management on the technical performance, progress, and training needs of project engineers and computer specialists. This position requires a strong background in IT systems analysis and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to enhance the operational capabilities of the FAA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide second-level engineering, maintenance, and support for the E-IDS system.
  • Conduct complex technical analyses to identify and resolve system performance issues.
  • Identify system requirements and assess the need for modifications to procedures and equipment.
  • Evaluate the adequacy of technical documentation for maintaining and certifying E-IDS.
  • Advise second-level engineering support teams based on technical expertise.
  • Provide input to management on project plans, resources, schedules, and priorities.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I / FG/GS-13.
  • Experience in providing second-level support for software and hardware issues at operational and support facilities.
  • Experience interfacing with external organizations.
