About the position

The IT Specialist at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court will provide essential technical support across three divisional offices, focusing on end-user support, help desk assistance, and technology management in courtrooms. This role involves troubleshooting, installing hardware and software, and ensuring reliable operation of IT systems, contributing to the court's mission of serving justice and supporting the public.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to help desk calls and e-mails, log computer problems, and assist with routine issues.
  • Assist with web access and provide information on applications such as word processing and data entry.
  • Create user accounts and provide end-user training.
  • Install or assist in the installation of upgrades or new software releases.
  • Set up, configure, install, and document hardware and software.
  • Provide support for mobile computing devices and remote access.
  • Confirm that backups are run and perform inventory control duties.
  • Provide cabling support and troubleshoot hardware and software problems.
  • Perform basic system support for telephone systems, including additions, deletions, and moves.
  • Analyze help desk logs and create local court forms from off-the-shelf software.
  • Customize programs for local needs and train personnel in their use.
  • Oversee operation of applicable technology used in the court to ensure reliable and effective operation.
  • Maintain contact with other IT personnel at different locations for updates and techniques.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience demonstrating a good understanding of organizational methods and administrative machinery.
  • Ability to analyze problems and assess practical implications of alternate solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Capacity to employ knowledge, skills, and abilities in problem resolution.
  • One year of specialized experience for CL 26 or two years for CL 27 in a related field, or a bachelor's degree with superior academic standing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience configuring/troubleshooting in a MS Active Directory environment.
  • Experience providing end-user support for MS Office.
  • Experience with patching enterprise systems.
  • Experience with KACE systems management.
  • Experience with IT security vulnerability scanning and remediation.
  • Experience in customer service or IT help desk roles.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation for technical issues.
