About the position

The IT Specialist (Web Analyst/Designer) position at the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) involves designing and managing web projects, collaborating with various departmental operating administrations, and supporting agency-wide web initiatives. The role emphasizes user experience, functionality, and the overall design of departmental websites, ensuring compliance with federal standards and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage web projects between the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and Departmental Operating Administrations (OAs).
  • Participate and support agency-wide web initiatives and collaborate with OAs on web requests.
  • Track and execute web governance for Departmental websites.
  • Oversee web design and development projects, ensuring alignment with design requirements.
  • Analyze, develop, and define design requirements for DOT Internet/intranet websites.
  • Consult with project stakeholders and develop preliminary and final project designs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems with web design and delivery.
  • Develop and maintain design products including wireframes, mockups, graphics, and templates.
  • Promote the use of DOT and federal web standards for uniformity across web pages.
  • Create, manage, and modify content for DOT websites and new media.

Requirements

  • Mid-level project management experience.
  • Mid-level web/graphic design experience.
  • Mid-level experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Bachelor's degree in Web Design/Digital Media/creative field or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Project Management Training/Certification preferred.
  • Web Design Certification or Certified Web Professional preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with web standards and style guides.
  • Knowledge of multimedia and interactive presentations.
