About the position

Boart Longyear is a global leader in drilling services, providing innovative and reliable solutions to the mining and drilling industry. The company is looking to hire a new IT Service Desk Technician based in their West Valley City, Utah office. This position involves supporting internal customers and mobile devices related to IT products and services. The IT Support Analyst will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving issues related to personal computers and mobile devices across various operating systems including Android, iOS, Mac OS, and Windows. The role requires a basic understanding of networking principles, particularly the TCP/IP protocol suite, and knowledge of DNS, WINS, and DHCP. The IT Support Analyst will coordinate with technical teams to develop best practice solutions and document business processes, configurations, and functional specifications. Effective communication with an extensive IT team is essential, as is the ability to work independently and in a team-driven environment. The position may involve occasional travel to physical locations as needed. Candidates should have experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and a solid understanding of security best practices. The role also requires the ability to track work via a ticketing system and troubleshoot PC hardware and software issues. A customer-focused attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement are key attributes for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Support internal customers on issue resolution, requirements gathering, and strategic initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to personal computers and mobile devices on Android, iOS, Mac OS, and Windows.
  • Coordinate and provide input to technical teams to develop best practice solutions.
  • Document business processes, configurations, and other associated functional specifications.
  • Work and communicate effectively with an extensive IT team.
  • Track all work via a ticketing system and escalate critical system issues appropriately.
  • Understand device connectivity to internet and corporate networks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Systems.
  • Basic understanding of networking principles, especially TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, and DHCP.
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft 365 Fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of Windows OS settings and configuration.
  • Ability to follow established processes and procedures.
  • Experience with PC hardware and software troubleshooting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with mobile device management.
  • Knowledge of Android, iOS, and Windows Mobile applications and configuration requirements.
