About the position

K-State Athletics is seeking qualified applicants for an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT SPECIALIST, which is a full-time, hourly, benefits-eligible position. This role is crucial in ensuring that the technology systems within the athletics department are functioning optimally and securely. The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include configuration management, user support, access control, network troubleshooting, hardware maintenance, software installation and updates, user education, and ensuring business as usual (BAU) operations. In terms of configuration management, the specialist will set up and maintain technology systems, ensuring they are properly configured for optimal performance and security. User support is a key aspect of this role, where the specialist will provide technical assistance to users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues promptly to minimize downtime. Access control will involve managing user access to systems, applications, and data, implementing necessary security protocols and permissions. The specialist will also be tasked with diagnosing and resolving network-related problems to ensure smooth operations, performing routine maintenance on computer hardware and peripherals, and installing and configuring software applications while ensuring compatibility and security. Additionally, the role includes assisting users in understanding technology best practices to promote a productive computing environment and ensuring the continuous availability and reliability of critical systems. Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain technology systems, ensuring they are properly configured for optimal performance and security

Requirements

  • High school diploma and one year of relevant work experience supporting computer hardware, software, and Apple iPhones
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively in team environments
  • Bachelor's Degree in a computer-related field is preferred, or an Associate of Science Degree with a focus on computer science and two years of relevant experience
  • CompTIA A+ certification will be given preference
  • Ability to successfully lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must have a valid driver's license at all times
