About the position

The IT Support Specialist position at NBC Sports Bay Area is a project-based role focused on providing onsite technical support for desktop users and assisting the Engineering team with production systems. The role requires a tech-savvy individual who can handle various IT-related tasks, including troubleshooting, configuring hardware and software, and ensuring smooth operations for users across different levels of technology expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Perform break-fix/end-user desktop support to users and provide support to the Engineering team for software updates, hardware, and various infrastructure related issues.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to users and work with internal experts and vendors to provide solutions to users' technical needs.
  • Configure, install, monitor, and maintain client desktop software and hardware; support mobile workforce.
  • Create, monitor and close tickets in ServiceNow to track user support requests.
  • Onboard new users, configure and deploy laptops and desktops.
  • Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Tech-savvy with a working knowledge of MS Windows & Office, and an introductory or above understanding of networking, TCP/IP and LAN functionalities.
  • Ability to rapidly learn software systems and demonstrate competence with new technologies and software applications.
  • Engaging personality with patience to work with users for all levels of technology, from interns to C-Suite level.
  • Attention to detail, strong written communication skills.
  • Technical background in a help desk environment that required customer service skills.
  • Education or degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Networking, System Administration, Cyber Security, Software Development, or other relevant technical areas.
  • Technical Certifications - CompTia, A+, Network+.
  • Experience with Windows 10/11, Apple OSX platforms, and MS Office Suite - O365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive) for both MAC and PC.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory concepts and management.
  • Service Now or Ticketing Software experience.
  • Basic Networking experience (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, Network Topology, as it relates to desktop support).
  • Familiarity with Servers and Storage Systems, as it pertains to desktop support.
  • Apple iOS Mobile Devices Operating system support.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field preferred
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills a plus
