The IT Support Specialist at Harrah's Philadelphia is responsible for providing specialized technical support and problem resolution for gaming hardware and software products. This role emphasizes superior customer service, technical problem-solving skills, and collaboration with management and Enterprise IT to ensure optimal system performance and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates superior customer service skills to external and internal guests.
  • Provides specialized technical problem solving and resolution skills.
  • Works with management and Enterprise IT to resolve complex business and data communication problems.
  • Installs, upgrades, and maintains gaming hardware and software products.
  • Plans and coordinates hardware installations, changes, and updates with vendors and users.
  • Administers and controls updates/changes to production programs, files, and databases.
  • Recommends application design changes to maximize resources.
  • Provides first- or second-level problem determination and recovery support for Host Platform computer systems.
  • Analyzes and recommends tools for system/network operation and problem determination.
  • Reports results from technical research and problem resolutions to upper management.
  • Collects and analyzes system data for quality assurance and performance optimization.
  • Administers systems and tools to secure computer programs and database files.
  • Assists in the research and support of new technologies for productivity improvements.
  • Communicates with project teams, clients, and vendors for planning.
  • Contributes to the engineering process and project management methodologies.
  • Recommends changes for improved system implementations.
  • Ensures established enterprise standards are followed during system implementations.
  • Provides consistent support for existing infrastructure and programs.
  • Analyzes infrastructure for unsatisfactory operating conditions.
  • Builds knowledge of products through vendor interaction.
  • Leverages vendor resources to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Executes on Project Management principles and Continuous Improvement theories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer science-related field or equivalent experience in a technical support environment.
  • Technical Certifications recommended.
  • 3 - 5 years work experience in a technical support environment, supporting multiple high-end computer systems.
  • Understanding of production operating systems, transaction processing systems, relational database architecture, and communication protocols.
  • Ability to work in smoke-filled environments and sit or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate license through the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
