About the position

The IT Support Specialist I role at Capital Blue Cross is designed to provide technical support to the end user community, ensuring effective use of desktop services, software applications, and IT systems. This position involves troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance of hardware and software, as well as assisting users with various technical issues. The specialist will also engage in asset management and process automation, contributing to the overall efficiency of IT operations.

Responsibilities

  • Configures, installs, moves, and maintains desktop services hardware and software products.
  • Provides technical support to end users in the use of available desktop services products and assists in problem resolution.
  • Maintains computer and computer-related systems, including imaging, deploying, troubleshooting, and updating systems.
  • Assists office and retail workers with the operation of their computer systems and software applications.
  • Tests computers, hardware, and software to ensure systems are functioning properly.
  • Physically sets up computer and software systems for various applications and programs.
  • Maintains consistent quality of all devices based on written standards.
  • Develops and maintains automation of processes and procedures to minimize manual tasks.
  • Reports and monitors relevant data to assist with department functions, tasks, and responsibilities.
  • Maintains knowledge of technology through research and attendance at vendor seminars and training.
  • Trains staff on how to use computer hardware and software systems.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years' work experience in a desktop computing support environment.
  • Technical understanding and experience with various desktop software applications, including Windows 10, Microsoft Office Suite, and cloud-based systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of personnel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a desktop support environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments independently and manage multiple changing priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with the CBC business environment and organizational functions.
  • Experience with scripting and automation to create scripts/code for task automation.
