About the position

The IT Support Specialist (Infrastructure Technician) position at ASM Global Jacksonville is a full-time, hourly role that reports to the Technology Services Manager. This position is crucial for maintaining and installing various telecommunications and low voltage infrastructure systems, including UTP, STP, coaxial, and fiber optic cables. The specialist will be responsible for providing essential information for the purchase of maintenance equipment, responding to both routine and emergency calls, and making necessary repairs to ensure the smooth operation of IT systems. In addition to installation and maintenance, the role involves monitoring system efficiencies and recommending solutions for improvements. The IT Support Specialist will assist in overseeing contractors, provide event-related maintenance and support, and conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety and health standards. The position requires a proactive approach to managing work orders and equipment using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent customer service skills are essential, as the role involves frequent interaction with customers, vendors, and visitors. The position also requires a valid driver's license and the ability to maintain OSHA certifications for operating forklifts and personnel lifts. Overall, this role is vital for ensuring that the IT infrastructure operates efficiently and effectively, supporting the various events and activities hosted by ASM Global Jacksonville.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain telecommunications, data, audio, video, and other low voltage infrastructure.
  • Provide necessary information for the proper purchase of preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment and systems.
  • Respond to routine and emergency calls and make necessary repairs.
  • Research, develop and make recommendations regarding the maintenance and capital improvement of equipment and systems.
  • Monitor system efficiencies and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Assist in the daily oversight of appropriate contractors.
  • Provide event-related maintenance, services, and support.
  • Review, perform and maintain regular department work orders and equipment using CMMS.
  • Conduct regular inspections of workspaces to ensure proper housekeeping, safety, and compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 2 years' experience installing low voltage cabling (RG6, CAT5-6, Fiber).
  • Experience troubleshooting fiber with an OTDR.
  • Experience working with media/network converters (e.g., Fiber to CAT6 and Fiber to SDI converters).
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Windows and Microsoft Office software.
  • Overall understanding and experience in facility management, preferably in the event industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.

  • Experience in the event industry preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands.
