About the position

The IT Support Specialist for Student Health & Wellbeing plays a crucial role in providing multi-tier support to the Health and Counseling Centers, ensuring smooth day-to-day IT operations and assisting in the long-term planning and management of IT resources within the Student Health and Wellbeing unit of the Division of Student Affairs. This position acts as a liaison between the Health and Counseling Centers, the Office of Technology Services (OTS), and technology vendors, working collaboratively to maintain the on-campus servers that host the Point and Click EMR and Titanium Scheduling systems utilized by these offices. The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for coordinating changes to the EMR systems, including the addition of services and the merging of EMRs. This role requires a proactive approach to technology management, ensuring that the Health and Counseling Centers are equipped with current and innovative technology while also adhering to ecological and fiscal sustainability practices. The specialist will also conduct monthly security audits of the technology systems to monitor for unauthorized access and maintain an information security program in compliance with HIPAA regulations and best practices. In addition to technical support, the IT Support Specialist will represent the Student Health & Wellbeing unit on campus-wide IT committees, contributing to discussions and decisions that affect the university's technology landscape. This position is essential for ensuring that the Health and Counseling Centers operate efficiently and effectively, providing the necessary support to staff and students alike.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary support for Staff and Clinical computers in the Health and Counseling Centers, escalating issues to OTS through ticketing system when appropriate.
  • Function as a superuser for the EMR systems and ensure that the staff are utilizing the systems efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain a technology plan in collaboration with Health and Counseling leadership to ensure current and innovative technology.
  • Manage the on-campus hosted servers for the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Scheduling technologies, assisting vendors with server access and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct monthly security audits of Health & Counseling Centers technology systems to monitor for unauthorized access.
  • Maintain an information security program for the Health and Counseling Center, adhering to HIPAA and best practices.
  • Install and maintain integrated medical devices that connect to the electronic medical records system.
  • Represent the Student Health & Wellbeing unit on campus-wide IT committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of experience with the types of hardware and software to be supported, including two years of user support, user training, and/or programming.
  • Experience with Windows Desktop OS 10, 11 and Server 2016, 2019 and 2022.
  • Experience with iOS (IPAD) and JAMF Management Suite.
  • Experience providing in-person Tier 2 or higher IT support.
  • Knowledge of networking and VLANs.
