The IT Support Specialist at LeMoyne-Owen College plays a crucial role in providing technical support to faculty, staff, students, and alumni. This position is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining the college's IT systems, ensuring that technology operates smoothly across the campus. The specialist will offer support through various channels, including phone, email, and in-person interactions, making it essential to have strong communication skills and a customer service-oriented approach. In this role, the IT Support Specialist will manage Active Directory, including user creation and computer addition to the domain. They will configure and troubleshoot DNS and DHCP, administer print and file services, and manage network shares and drive mappings on user devices. Additionally, the specialist will support Windows Terminal Server and remote applications, addressing connectivity and printing issues related to Active Directory. The position also involves managing mailboxes and distribution groups within the Exchange Server environment, troubleshooting email issues, and handling cloud and onsite spam filters. The specialist will provide desktop support for Windows 10 and Office 365, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and assist with mobile device management, particularly for iOS devices. Networking responsibilities include basic troubleshooting of Meraki firewalls, VPN clients, and VLANs, as well as monitoring backups and antivirus clients on endpoints. The IT Support Specialist will also play a role in cybersecurity by assisting in monitoring and responding to security incidents, enforcing IT security policies, and participating in security awareness training for users.
