About the position

At BBB Industries, the IT Support Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the use of technology across the organization. This position is responsible for supporting users in their day-to-day activities, ensuring that hardware and software are functioning optimally, and managing various IT systems including Active Directory, DHCP, and server virtual environments. The IT Support Specialist will work closely with the Director of Global IT Infrastructure to ensure that all technology-related needs are met efficiently and effectively. The role involves cross-training in various IT functions, including telephone support, hardware installation, and application software management. The IT Support Specialist will identify hardware and software needs to satisfy user requirements, install necessary hardware and peripheral components, and load appropriate software packages such as operating systems and networking components. Additionally, the specialist will be responsible for creating, testing, and implementing software applications that support business operations. Monitoring system performance is a key responsibility, as the IT Support Specialist will need to troubleshoot issues such as security breaches or slow response times. Analyzing user needs and recommending solutions is also part of the job, along with assisting in the creation of business plans for new ventures or projects. The specialist will provide support through various channels, including telephone, in-person, and virtual online assistance, ensuring that users are connected to networks and trained in the use of facilities and applications. Other duties may be assigned as needed, making this a dynamic and engaging role within the IT department.

Responsibilities

  • Cross-trains for telephone, hardware, and application software within IT environment.
  • Identifies hardware and software needs to satisfy user requirements.
  • Installs hardware and peripheral components.
  • Loads appropriate software packages such as operating systems, networking components and office applications.
  • Creates, tests, and implements software applications for business and organization use.
  • Monitors systems for performance issues, such as security breaches or slow response times, and troubleshoots problems when they arise.
  • Analyzes user needs and recommends solutions to meet those needs.
  • Assists with the creation of business plans for new ventures or projects.
  • Provides telephone, in-person, and virtual online support to end-users.
  • Coordinates activities with network services and information systems groups.
  • Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail or in-person communication.
  • Connects users to networks and provides initial training in facilities and applications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of knowledge and experience with Windows OS, Servers (hardware, software), Mac OS/iOS/Android OS Support
  • Minimum 2 years of working knowledge of Active Directory
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with help desk support
  • Minimum 2 years of MS Office 365 productivity suite products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Network Infrastructure
  • BS in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in computer network, operating systems and system support
