About the position

The IT Support Specialist at the New York Philharmonic provides essential technical guidance and solutions across the organization. This role focuses on ensuring optimal workstation performance through the installation, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and upgrading of PC hardware and equipment. The specialist will also troubleshoot issues, provide general technology support, and engage with users to enhance their comfort with IT tools.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate an approachable and service-oriented culture within the IT team.
  • Cultivate end-user engagement with IT initiatives, projects, and policies.
  • Respond to internal user requests in an efficient and friendly manner, assist with training and help to boost comfort level with utilizing IT tools.
  • Manage onsite inventory, and as needed, identify, review, and recommend hardware and software purchases.
  • Document/coordinate user activity, backups, maintenance, workstation upgrades and patching.
  • Assess, implement, and maintain end-user workstations, including hardware upgrades (CPUs, storage, RAM) and software configurations to ensure optimal performance and service levels.
  • Identify solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity and demonstrate an understanding of modern hardware and software.
  • Support quality reporting and continuous compliance with cybersecurity standards, including PCI DSS compliance.
  • Participate in annual cybersecurity assessment.
  • Document and enforce cybersecurity controls as prescribed by the corporate policies.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of related work experience in IT architecture implementation, support and maintenance.
  • Experience with administering cloud platforms such as Microsoft O365 & Azure, with special emphasis on the Sharepoint user environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills and a history of successful inventory management.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and supporting desktop, tablet, and laptop operating systems, including iOS, Windows and macOS.
  • A friendly, customer service driven attitude, both online and in person and ability to train all levels of management and staff in IT tasks.
  • Ability to manage security and control groups in cross-departmental implementations and to work collaboratively across multi-functional teams.
  • Experience managing business process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, evolving non-profit arts environment, effectively prioritizing the needs of a complex organization as a self-motivated worker in a fast-paced environment.
