The North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts (NCAOC) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to fill the role of IT Support Specialist within the Applied Technology Services (ATS) division. This temporary, full-time position is expected to conclude on January 31, 2025, and is primarily focused on providing production information technology support for judicial personnel in Buncombe County. The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for the configuration and support of various information technology components, including switches, servers, desktop computers, laptops, and local/network printers, as well as other technology devices utilized throughout the Judicial Branch. The ATS division operates 24/7, providing customer-focused services as both Desktop OS Tier 3 support and field staff for other sections, including networking, servers, and other systems in their assigned regional areas. In addition to technical support, the IT Support Specialist will interface with Judicial Branch staff and local government officials, listen to customers to identify problems, and facilitate necessary corrections or assist vendors in resolving issues. The position also involves providing training for judicial staff, testing and recommending hardware and software configurations, and participating in large technology deployment projects, which may include statewide software updates and server upgrades. The work environment is primarily office-based, with occasional lifting of heavy objects (up to 75 pounds) and exposure to hazardous electrical components during the configuration of personal computers. Applicants must reside within the support area or be willing to relocate to be considered for this position.
