About the position

The IT Support Specialist at Resource Management Concepts, Inc. (RMC) is responsible for providing high-quality IT support services to government and commercial sectors, specifically at NIWC LANT. This role involves managing IT infrastructure, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and supporting system integration in a research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) environment. The specialist will work collaboratively with a team of system administrators, network engineers, and service desk analysts to ensure the smooth operation of IT services.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain IT Infrastructure end-point devices including computers, printers, phones, and audio-visual equipment.
  • Perform server/workstation installations and technology refreshes.
  • Install and configure external workstation hardware and authorized software on workstations.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Perform system upgrades as required.
  • Support the tracking and implementation of Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGS).
  • Assist in artifact development and continuous monitoring activities.
  • Maintain end-point data backups and ensure integrity.
  • Participate in the patch management process.
  • Create and maintain documentation.
  • Lead and assist with projects as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED is required.
  • Up to 3 years of experience providing end user IT support services preferred.
  • Solid understanding of RedHat Linux, including installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux Servers/Virtualization (RHEL 6, 7 & 8, SLES).
  • Account and Group administration (AD Integration, LDAP).
  • Patch and package administration.
  • Configuration and administration of LVM.
  • Using package managers like YUM or DNF to install, update, and remove software packages.
  • Troubleshooting complex, non-routine MacOS incidents.
  • Maintain established IT Security protocols for macOS, Microsoft Windows, and various 3rd Party applications.
  • Periodic upgrade and patching for macOS and various 3rd Party applications associated with macOS.
  • JAMF infrastructure health.
  • DoD 8570/5239 IAT Level 2 Certification (Security + CE) or IAT Level 3 Certification (CASP or CISSP) required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with virtual machine builds/deployments.
  • Familiarity with configuration management practices.
