About the position

The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support to end users, troubleshooting desktop applications, network connectivity, and hardware issues. This role involves coordinating hardware and software purchases, maintaining desktop systems, monitoring security issues, and implementing security protocols to safeguard data and systems. The specialist will also provide updates and training to staff to maximize system usage and promote security awareness.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots desktop applications, network connectivity, and hardware issues.
• Provides technical support to end users, including software installations and resolving application issues.
• Coordinates with Purchasing for hardware and software purchases.
• Supports the maintenance and deployment of desktop systems and applications.
• Monitors and responds to security issues affecting desktop systems, including virus and malware threats.
• Implements security protocols to safeguard data and systems, including user education on security awareness.
• Provides updates to staff and promotes security awareness.

Requirements

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 4-7+ years of IT experience in multiple functions.
• Strong customer service orientation with proven dependability and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
• Proficiency in desktop applications, hardware support, and network troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of security protocols, data protection, and best practices for system security.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, data processing, business information systems, or a directly related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in a similar technical environment.
