About the position

Trillium Professional is seeking an IT Support Specialist for a direct-hire opportunity in Novi, offering a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $80,000 per year. The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for managing all user requests, which includes analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to enhance existing computer systems. This role involves administering the day-to-day operations of all computer systems, which includes configuring user devices such as computers, phones, tablets, and other electronic devices. The specialist will also be tasked with placing orders for hardware and software requests, analyzing user requirements, and automating processes to improve existing systems. In addition to user support, the IT Support Specialist will assist in maintaining servers and network systems, providing troubleshooting support for Windows-based operating systems (Windows 10/11), and reviewing and evaluating the company's computer systems and user needs. This includes documenting requirements and formulating systems that align with the company's overall business strategies. The role also requires administering Windows-based server applications, including Active Directory and Group Policy management, and ensuring the proper functioning of the company's information systems through necessary upgrades and maintenance. The specialist will be responsible for managing and troubleshooting access to resources, installing new software releases and system upgrades, and configuring applications using deployment tools such as SCCM or PDQ. They will conduct system design and maintenance, monitor software licenses, and assist in the maintenance of VMware servers and physical servers. Training new users on software and company policies, tracking and documenting troubleshooting efforts, and maintaining phone systems are also key responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all user requests including analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to improve existing computer systems.
  • Administer the day-to-day operations for all computer systems, including configuring user devices: computers, phones, tablets, and other electronic devices.
  • Place orders for hardware/software requests and analyze user requirements to automate processing or improve existing computer systems.
  • Assist in maintaining servers and network systems.
  • Provide user support for all hardware/software requests.
  • Perform end user troubleshooting on Windows-based operating systems for Windows 10/11.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate the company's computer systems and user needs; document requirements and formulate systems that align with the company's overall business strategies.
  • Administer Windows-based server applications including Active Directory and Group Policy management.
  • Configure and troubleshoot hardware devices, drivers, desktop computers, and other end user equipment.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of the company's information systems by performing upgrades as required to computer equipment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain the company's operating systems and detect, diagnose, resolve, and report any related problems to management.
  • Utilize industry standards to perform system backups and recovery for desktop/laptop computers, servers, and other attached devices.
  • Manage and troubleshoot access to resources including files, folders, and cloud applications such as M365 and Oracle.
  • Install new software releases and system upgrades; evaluate and install patches and resolve software-related problems.
  • Configure applications and packages using deployment tools such as SCCM or PDQ.
  • Run diagnostic tests to ensure the company's information systems are operating efficiently.
  • Conduct system design and maintenance.
  • Maintain the company's secure computer systems by managing the access of portable storage devices.
  • Monitor software licenses and ensure timely renewals; review and analyze the company's license needs routinely.
  • Maintain and monitor ticket queue utilizing industry standard applications (JitBit).
  • Assist in maintenance of VMware server (ESXi platform) and physical servers, active directory, DNS, DHCP including mandatory upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot server hardware including hard disks, memory, CPU, fan, motherboard, and power supply.
  • Train new users on the use of software and company policies.
  • Track, monitor, and document troubleshooting efforts to ensure timely resolution.
  • Install and/or push desktop software, updates, patches.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot phone systems including Cisco WebEx and VoIP handsets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • Three or more years of professional experience in the field may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and CompTIA A+ Certification are preferred.
  • Experience providing technical assistance to users via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems and peripherals.
  • Experience documenting and resolving technical issues.
  • Understanding of operating systems and networking fundamentals.
  • Experience enhancing existing systems to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Participation in project planning and execution, conducting system testing and quality assurance.
  • Experience creating and maintaining system documentation.
  • Participation in system implementation and user training.
  • Understanding of network infrastructure and systems architecture.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Information Technology (IT) as it relates to desktop engineering.

Nice-to-haves

  • Japanese language skills are preferred but not required.
