About the position

The IT Support Specialist plays a crucial role in the installation, operation, and maintenance of computer hardware, operating systems, applications software, and both data and voice communications related to Casino gaming. This position requires a high level of confidentiality and professionalism, as the specialist will be responsible for resolving user requests and ensuring that all systems and data are secure and functioning optimally. The specialist will work closely with the MIS Manager to implement efficient and cost-effective IT solutions, while also providing training to end users on various applications and software. The role involves maintaining network systems, user access, and performing routine network activities, including backups and problem resolution. Additionally, the specialist will be tasked with completing installations, preventive maintenance, and repairs on computer hardware and communications equipment, ensuring that all gaming program changes are documented and tested prior to implementation. The IT Support Specialist must also be prepared to respond to emergency situations, as they will be on call 24 hours for disaster recovery of Casino systems and networks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains confidentiality of all systems, data and information.
  • Receives and resolves requests for assistance from users, deciding appropriate actions and implementing solutions.
  • Keeps the MIS Manager informed of all requests and responses, exercising good judgment in referrals.
  • Maintains network systems, network security, and user access, completing routine network activities.
  • Performs support systems activities such as backups, report generation, and problem resolution.
  • Completes installations, preventive maintenance, and repairs on computer hardware and communications equipment.
  • Assists the MIS Manager in designing and implementing IT solutions.
  • Provides training to end users regarding applications and software.
  • Reviews requests for new gaming programs or program changes with the MIS Manager and Compliance.
  • Performs gaming program changes and prepares implementation plans for new and modified programs.
  • Completes data inserts for conversions, installations, and gaming technology upgrades.
  • Tests all new and modified programs prior to implementation and documents the process.
  • Keeps records of final program changes, including user acceptance and reasons for changes.
  • Reviews all security logs and reports unauthorized access attempts.
  • Logs unauthorized changes to live data files and unusual transactions.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the MIS Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
  • Three or more years' experience with Microsoft Networks, Windows Operating Systems, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Exchange.
  • Experience in performing network functions such as adding, modifying, or deleting users, objects, or directories.
  • Experience troubleshooting connection errors, computer errors, and network errors.
  • Skills in maintaining and troubleshooting computer hardware, including personal computers and peripherals.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems with personal computers, network connections, printers, and telephone equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with users, management, and staff.
  • Knowledge of personal computer operating systems, telephone systems, networks, and peripherals required.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
