About the position

The IT Support Specialist role involves providing technical support for both in-house IT operations and managed IT clients, primarily in a Windows-based environment. The position requires strong customer service skills as it involves frequent interaction with business owners and staff. The specialist will handle IT service requests, perform account maintenance, troubleshoot complex issues, and maintain documentation related to IT systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support in-house IT operations of a Windows-based small business.
  • Assist remote IT clients by handling service requests via phone, email, and chat.
  • Interact with business owners, managers, and staff to resolve IT issues.
  • Take detailed notes of client issues and coordinate with third-party software support.
  • Perform account maintenance tasks including user account provisioning and software patching.
  • Use help desk support software to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues remotely.
  • Conduct basic network and firewall troubleshooting.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to workstation architecture and system configuration.
  • Install and troubleshoot software and hardware, including VOIP solutions.
  • Identify, prioritize, and escalate urgent support tickets.
  • Onboard new clients and install remote management tools and software.

Requirements

  • Preferred 2 years of technical support, service/help desk, or related experience.
  • Technical degree or IT certification such as Microsoft Certified Professional preferred.
  • Proficient with PC technology, mainly Dell, and current Microsoft desktop operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Server operating systems is a plus.
  • Basic TCP/IP network administration experience required.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory and file permissions in a Windows Server environment required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Office 365 cloud offerings required.
  • Familiarity with Dell hardware (Server and Workstations) is a plus.
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V) is a plus.
  • Experience with VEEAM Backup and Replication is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Veterinary IT Support Experience in AVImark, Idexx Cornerstone, ClienTrax, Impromed, ezyVet, DaySmart Vet, Covetrus Pulse, IDEXX Neo.
  • Experience with active directory domain migrations or system migrations.
  • Project management experience for large installations.
