About the position

Peraton is seeking an Entry Level Customer Technical Specialist/IT Support Specialist to provide support for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at airports across the United States. This position is based in Charlotte, NC, and requires the candidate to work onsite at the airport. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in desktop support and customer service, with a focus on providing high-quality IT support to senior executive government staff. The role involves extensive desk-side IT support, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues in a professional manner. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and have the ability to obtain a DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD) clearance. The position offers a competitive salary of $46,400 annually, with full benefits. Candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant experience in IT support. Specifically, candidates with a high school diploma should have at least four years of relevant experience, while those with an associate degree should have two years, and those with a bachelor's degree should have at least one year of experience. The role requires a proactive and self-motivated individual who can work independently and identify opportunities for improvement in IT processes. Preferred qualifications include certifications such as A+, Network+, Cisco, and Microsoft certifications, as well as ITIL4 certification. Experience in managing projects and the ability to install Cisco switches and manage complex fiber backbone interconnectivity are also advantageous. Knowledge of connecting, patching, and repairing Cat6 and fiber infrastructure is essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide desk-side IT support to DHS/TSA staff at airports.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with senior executive government staff.
  • Install and configure hardware and software as needed.
  • Maintain and repair Cat6 and fiber infrastructure connections.
  • Document support activities and maintain records of issues and resolutions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Associate's degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree with 1+ years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience with desk-side IT support.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with senior executive government staff.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD) clearance.
