About the position

The IT Support Specialist at Gensler is responsible for providing first-line technical support to end users in the Seattle office and the Northwest region. This role involves managing service desk requests, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT infrastructure. The specialist will collaborate with a global team and may need to travel to nearby offices for support. The position emphasizes customer service, technical expertise, and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second level support for Windows and Mac client computers, MS Office 365 applications including Outlook and Teams.
  • Install, maintain, and ensure operation of all devices including desktop/laptop computers, printers, and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot core 2D and 3D drafting products including Revit, AutoCAD, and 3ds Max, as well as graphics design software like SketchUp and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Support remote users accessing virtual desktop infrastructure.
  • Administer user accounts and security controls within Active Directory.
  • Image laptops and desktops during initial deployment, maintenance, and end of life replacements.
  • Support AV equipment and web conferencing functions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of desktop computing technology and networking technologies used by Gensler.
  • Develop rapport with staff to tailor hands-on support accordingly.
  • Adhere to all software licensing restrictions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience or military training.
  • 5-8 years of proven experience in IT support roles.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Windows 11, Microsoft Office 365, MacOS, and Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts and desktop troubleshooting.
  • Ability to lift and move PCs and monitors (up to 50 lbs) and run cables in tight spaces.
  • Expert knowledge of iPhone and Android mobile phones.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities and excellent organizational, time management, and service delivery skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • CompTIA A+ Certification in desktop support or similar.
  • Certification in Cisco, Windows Desktop or Server, MacOS, ITIL considered a plus.
  • Familiarity with design tools like Adobe Creative Cloud and Autodesk products (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD).
  • Experience working with geographically diverse operations.
