About the position

The IT Support Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for IT support within the organization, responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining software and hardware components of computer and network systems. This role involves diagnosing and troubleshooting various technical issues, supporting staff with their IT challenges, and ensuring the security and privacy of computer systems. The specialist will also maintain technical documentation and collaborate with other IT technicians to enhance system performance and user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as the initial point of contact for IT support within the organization.
  • Installing, configuring and maintaining software and hardware components of computer and network systems through repair or replacement.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
  • Supporting people whenever they encounter challenges with computers and network devices.
  • Maintaining and updating technical documentation regularly.
  • Testing new hardware and software before full-scale installation.
  • Assisting call-ins or live chat with technical difficulties.
  • Assisting staff with hardware and software challenges.
  • Maintaining computer systems and other technologies in a business setting.
  • Perform tests on new hardware and software.
  • Oversee security and privacy of computer systems.
  • Keep records and logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule.
  • Detect computer shortages and submit for approval.
  • Work and collaborate with other IT Technicians to install hardware and troubleshoot computer issues.
  • Respond to IT questions from company employees and updating malware protection devices to prevent viruses or computer hacking.
  • Detect diagnose and troubleshoot to problems related to hardware software or organizational activities.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or related field, preferred.
  • 2-5 years IT experience or a similar role.
  • Experience troubleshooting systems.
  • Skilled in database programming and software installation.
  • Proficient in MS Windows, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiar with a range of software and hardware.
  • Willing to travel to other locations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
