About the position

JST is currently seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our team at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in supporting the Department of Defense's navigation warfare (NAVWAR) mission, ensuring positioning, navigation, and timing superiority. As an IT Support Specialist in the Joint Navigation Warfare Center (JNWC), you will be part of a dedicated team that provides combatant commanders and joint force commanders with subject matter expertise on planning and conducting NAVWAR. This includes offering insights into friendly and enemy NAVWAR order of battle, as well as PNT-related successes and threats. Your support will be vital in integrating C4, cyber, and cyberspace operations into JNWC's strategic and operational objectives. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support for a variety of end-user devices, including hardware such as laptops, printers, tablets, and mobile devices, as well as software applications and network infrastructure. You will coordinate customer desk-side support for software installations and hardware break/fix activities, ensuring that all end-user equipment is set up and configured correctly. Additionally, you will investigate and resolve connectivity issues related to end-user devices and site infrastructure, actively participate in construction project planning, and maintain IT infrastructure inventory information. Your recommendations for customer service and IT process enhancements will be based on research into new technologies and processes, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the IT support provided to the JNWC.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for end user devices hardware (laptops, printers, tablets, mobile devices) and peripherals, software (COTS, GOTS, Web), network infrastructure (routers, switches, etc.), Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), audiovisual display systems, duress alarms, analog and wireless technologies.
• Schedule and coordinate customer desk-side support for the installation of new software or to perform hardware or software break/fix activities.
• Set up and configure new end-user equipment including laptops, mobile devices, printers, copiers, VTC units, VoIP phones, and other peripherals.
• Investigate and resolve all connectivity issues related to end-user, site infrastructure, and IT equipment.
• Actively participate in construction project planning, providing detailed requirements for facility IT specifications.
• Responsible for the on-site coordination of break/fix installations with hardware maintenance providers, providing after-hours support when required.
• Execute and maintain IT infrastructure inventory information, completing regularly scheduled inventories of all IT cabinets and IT cabinet equipment, updating pictures, drawings, and asset information.
• Recommend customer service and IT process support enhancements by researching and recommending new technologies and processes.

Requirements

• Experience in providing technical support for end-user devices and IT infrastructure.
• Knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting techniques.
• Familiarity with network infrastructure components such as routers and switches.
• Ability to set up and configure various end-user equipment and peripherals.
• Strong problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve connectivity issues.
• Experience in coordinating with hardware maintenance providers for break/fix installations.
