The IT Support Specialist will play a crucial role in delivering 1st and 2nd call IT support to end users at Abilities First. This position serves as the escalation point for the Helpdesk Technician, addressing tier 2 issues and ensuring effective resolution. The IT Support Specialist will be involved in the planning and execution of IT projects across the agency, requiring the ability to identify IT-related issues and develop long-term strategies based on available information. Additionally, this role includes maintaining network asset accountability, training end users on IT-related applications, procedures, and hardware, and collaborating with the IT Team to provide exceptional support to all staff and individuals receiving services. This position is primarily based in Orange County, NY, with travel required to other sites within the county and occasional trips to Dutchess County. The work schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, with a commitment of 40 hours per week. Compensation for this role ranges from $56,560 to $60,715, depending on education, experience, and relevant credentials or certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective 1st and 2nd call hardware/software/network support for all locations.
  • Research solutions independently and escalate to peers for guidance when necessary.
  • Maintain documentation in SharePoint, Teams, and Helpdesk Knowledge Base.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and end users across various communication systems and tools.
  • Provision, deploy, and manage Windows 10 and 11 OS machines.
  • Maintain and update Windows Server 2016-2019.
  • Manage users and computers in Active Directory.
  • Provision, install, and manage site networks.
  • Drive IT innovation and network improvements at all sites.
  • Accountability of equipment, software, and services for all sites.
  • Manage remote and mobile devices using MDM solutions.
  • Provide training and support to employees during agency orientation and as needed.
  • Ensure all trainings and certifications required are current and seek further support and training where needed.
  • Adhere to agency Code of Legal and Ethical Behavior and follow all agency policies and procedures.
  • Perform other appropriate job-related activities as requested by the supervisor or as circumstances warrant.

Requirements

  • Four (4) or more years of Information Technology experience, including deploying and maintaining desktop and mobile computers, printer/copier, basic network elements, VoIP phones, and iPads in a corporate environment.
  • An Associate's Degree in Information Technology or a related degree, or a combination of two (2) or more entry-level IT certifications in desktop, network, or Apple devices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and train non-technical users on basic computer use.
  • Must have a valid NYS driver's license and be willing to drive to various sites across Dutchess and Orange counties.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Meraki MX models: MX100, MX64, MX84.
  • Familiarity with Meraki Systems Manager for Android and Apple MDM.
  • Knowledge of VPN usage (Windows native client).
  • Understanding of VLANs and DHCP.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Office suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) usage and management.
  • Knowledge of Multi-Factor Authentication.
  • Experience with Apple School Manager/Apple Business Manager.
  • Familiarity with Unifi networking equipment: 8, 16, 24, 48 port switches with and without PoE, Access Points, and Unifi Controller.
