About the position

The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing desktop workstation system support to City employees, troubleshooting issues, and responding to requests. This role includes training staff in basic applications, managing computer inventory, purchasing hardware and software, and setting up new workstations. The position requires adherence to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment and involves access to sensitive information, necessitating a thorough background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide desktop workstation system support to City employees.
• Troubleshoot and respond to questions and requests from staff.
• Train City staff in basic applications and computer usage.
• Track computer inventory and purchase hardware and software.
• Set up new workstations for employees.
• Administer the computer recycling program.
• Adhere to strict deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
• Be available for periodic after-hours on-call duty, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent in information systems or a closely related field.
• Two years of computer systems support experience.
• Knowledge of desktop, tablet, and network operating systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other general business applications (e.g., Acrobat, Photoshop).
• A+ or Network+ certification is beneficial.
• Experience with audiovisual work is beneficial.
