About the position

The IT Support Specialist at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio is responsible for providing comprehensive technical support for desktop computers, applications, and related technology within the institution. This role operates under general supervision and requires a proactive approach to ensure that all technology resources function efficiently and effectively. The specialist will engage in various activities, including the specification, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals, adhering to established standards and guidelines. In this position, the IT Support Specialist will interact with application software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique, non-recurring problems that may arise. This involves a deep understanding of both hardware and software components, as well as the ability to troubleshoot issues that are not commonly encountered. The specialist will work closely with Information Management Services (IMS) and relevant vendors to ensure that all resources are functioning optimally and to facilitate any necessary repairs or upgrades. The role is critical in maintaining the technological backbone of the institution, ensuring that all staff and departments have the necessary support to carry out their functions without interruption. The IT Support Specialist will also be expected to document issues and resolutions, contributing to a knowledge base that can assist in future troubleshooting efforts.

Responsibilities
