About the position

The IT Support Specialist position located in Horsham, PA, is a full-time contract role that offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $21 to $24. This position is expected to last approximately six months, with a possibility of extension. The role requires the candidate to provide complex technical support and coordination for end-user touchpoints within a distributed computer environment. This includes responsibilities related to desktop, software, and hardware installation, support, and distribution, as well as remote access technologies. The specialist will perform detailed analysis, diagnosis, installation, and resolution of complex issues related to desktop computers, operating systems, application software, and hardware technologies. Additionally, the role involves managing remote access technologies and coordinating horizontal network cable management processes, which include installation, moves, adds, changes, and repairs. The IT Support Specialist will work independently with minimal supervision, focusing on the analysis, design, and implementation of desktop solutions that meet business unit requirements. In this position, the specialist will act as a technical liaison with user groups and other IT partners, providing effective communication and support for systems implementation. Responsibilities also include project analysis, design, coordination, and planning for all technical components of desktop-related projects. The specialist will be responsible for updating technical documentation, managing inventory changes, and closing trouble tickets and service requests efficiently. Creativity and initiative in problem-solving are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide complex technical support for end-user touch points in a distributed computer environment.
  • Perform analysis, diagnosis, installation, and resolution of desktop computer, operating system, application software, and hardware technologies.
  • Manage remote access technologies and associated problems.
  • Coordinate horizontal network cable management processes including installation, moves, adds, changes, and repairs.
  • Act as a technical liaison with user groups and IT partners for systems support and implementation.
  • Provide technical input to the Desktop Services team and support timely service delivery.
  • Work independently with little to no supervision in analysis, design, and implementation of desktop solutions.
  • Partner with business units to understand the impact of support issues.
  • Coordinate schedules and technical work order instructions for contracted labor.
  • Document hardware/software additions or changes and update inventory database.
  • Update and close trouble tickets and service requests.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in the desktop environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems.
  • Expert level troubleshooting and analysis of PC hardware and operating systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Windows Server Operating System and domain-related administrative tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Microsoft Office Suite products including versions 2007 and 2010.
  • Intermediate knowledge of LAN environments and communication protocols.
  • Intermediate knowledge of PC-to-Mainframe access and LAN-based email systems.
