About the position

ClientFirst Technology Consulting is seeking an IT Support Specialist to provide professional IT support services to our local government agency clients. This role involves both onsite and remote desktop support and administration, ensuring that our clients' IT systems are running smoothly and efficiently. The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for local area network and file server administration for a variety of private sector clients, supporting multiple clients on a regular basis. The position requires a proactive approach to administering changes and adjustments to systems as needed, as well as basic troubleshooting for server and network issues. In this role, you will work closely with vendor representatives to identify and correct causes of hardware and software malfunctions, as well as perform necessary enhancements. You will be expected to respond to and resolve difficult inquiries and complaints, providing emergency response to reduce downtime, correct errors, monitor vendor activity, diagnose system failures, and conduct off-hours scheduled and as-needed maintenance. Additionally, you will assist in developing, planning, implementing, and administering goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, and will be responsible for administering software license and maintenance renewals. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of Help Desk or Systems Administration experience, with a strong emphasis on Windows Server administration, basic Windows troubleshooting skills, and experience with LAN configuration. Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V is also preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment serving multiple clients each day. Experience in IT support for local government agencies is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite and remote desktop support and administration.
  • Administer local area network and file server for various clients.
  • Support multiple clients regularly.
  • Administer changes and adjustments to systems as needed.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting for server and network issues.
  • Collaborate with vendor representatives to resolve hardware and software malfunctions.
  • Respond to and resolve difficult inquiries and complaints.
  • Provide emergency response to reduce downtime and correct errors.
  • Monitor vendor activity and diagnose system failures.
  • Conduct off-hours scheduled and as-needed maintenance.
  • Assist in developing, planning, implementing, and administering goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Administer software license and maintenance renewals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years Help Desk / Systems Administration experience.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 administration (Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS, File and Print Sharing).
  • Basic Windows 10/11 troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic LAN configuration experience.
  • Experience with VMware, Hyper-V or equivalent virtualization technologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, and independent worker.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment serving multiple clients.

Nice-to-haves

  • A+, Network+, Security+ CompTIA or Microsoft certifications or similar.
  • Other IT certifications are helpful but not required.
