About the position

The IT Support and Systems Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support to Middle River Power, which operates power plants across the United States. This role involves managing service desk tickets, ensuring network security, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. The specialist will also conduct user training and support both cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure, contributing to the overall IT goals of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and resolve service desk tickets promptly and efficiently.
  • Triage and escalate issues as necessary to ensure timely resolution.
  • Manage user support within the network environment, including training and educating personnel on applications as needed.
  • Conduct training sessions for users on new technologies, software applications, and security protocols to enhance overall IT literacy within the organization.
  • Support and maintain cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Provide support for the on-premises environment.
  • Assist in planning and executing the installation and maintenance of computer systems, hardware, and networks.
  • Support major upgrades and significant changes to the network environment.
  • Manage system backups and implement recovery plans to safeguard critical data and minimize downtime in the event of system failures.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for hardware and software procurement, maintenance, and support services.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to network security and IT infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with the compliance department to ensure adherence to required processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to the establishment and execution of IT goals and the IT roadmap.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting efforts, and provide regular reports to management on IT performance and security metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience supporting users in a networked environment, including familiarity with Active Directory and access control systems, is required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct thorough research to resolve complex technical issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of network security protocols, practices, and regulatory compliance standards, coupled with strong documentation skills for maintaining accurate records.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with cloud-based platforms, on-premises infrastructure technologies, and cloud infrastructure services is preferred.
  • A background in managing small to medium-sized IT projects and knowledge of industry regulations, such as NERC CIP, is beneficial.

Benefits

  • Initial starting compensation will range from $33.50 to $38.50 per hour and will include an annual performance bonus.
