About the position

The Technician, IT Support position at Flex in Austin, TX, is a vital role responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of desktop and laptop hardware and software within the organization. This entry-level position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and grow in the IT field while contributing to a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture. The technician will be tasked with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting personal computers and related systems, ensuring that all IT assets are functioning optimally to support the needs of the users. In this role, the technician will perform a variety of tasks including the installation and repair of hardware, configuration of cellular phones, and management of printer supplies. The technician will also be responsible for keeping accurate records of all assets supported by the Deskside team, ensuring that both physical and logical tracking of PC assets is maintained. Providing first-line technical support for end-users will be a key responsibility, as the technician will troubleshoot software and hardware failures, as well as network connectivity issues related to personal computers. The position requires interaction with vendors for hardware repairs and collaboration with the Network Administrator/Analyst to resolve network-related issues. The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of PC architecture, advanced knowledge of Windows 10 and 11, and familiarity with Active Directory, Mac OS, Android, and iOS. This role is perfect for someone who is proactive, has considerable judgment, and is willing to take the initiative in problem-solving and making recommendations that can impact the site or business unit level.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of personal computer and related systems.
  • Configure cellular phones for end users to meet corporate specifications.
  • Assists in determining suitable software to meet user requirements.
  • Manage required supplies for printers (not to include paper).
  • Install software, patches, and updates on desktops and laptops.
  • Keep accurate tracking of all assets supported by Deskside.
  • Maintains PC assets in both a physical and logical manner and maintain its accurate tracking.
  • Provide 1st line technical support for end-user's computers hardware and software, printers, and its network connectivity.
  • Troubleshoots software and hardware failures and identifies network problems when they relate to personal (desktop or laptop) end-user's computers.
  • Assist Network Administrator/Analyst to troubleshoot end-users' network-related issues.
  • Interacts with vendors to facilitate repairs of hardware, i.e., printers, laptops, and desktops.

Requirements

  • An associate degree is preferred or equivalent experience and training.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of PC architecture.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows 10 and 11.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Mac OS, Android, and iOS.
  • Advance knowledge of imaging processes used for deployment of PCs in standard environments.
  • Considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer a plus.
