We are currently seeking a full-time early career classified IT Systems Administrator to join our OSD Research and Advanced Capabilities Development Department. This role involves supporting the deployment, operations, and maintenance of IT systems within a classified lab environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for patching and updating Windows and Linux operating systems, maintaining antivirus software, and performing fundamental user maintenance activities. Additionally, the IT Systems Administrator will assist in coordinating with various stakeholders to obtain formal accreditation for operating classified information systems and will work in compliance with government audits. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in IT systems administration, a willingness to learn new technologies, and the ability to provide excellent customer service in a dynamic environment. This position requires an on-site presence five days a week, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and teamwork in our mission to make a difference.

Responsibilities

  • Patching and updating Windows and Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu) server and desktop operating systems.
  • Updating anti-virus software definitions for Windows server and workstation.
  • Performing fundamental user maintenance activities on both Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Updating servers, clients, applications, and antivirus updates.
  • Assisting ISSM/ISSO with coordination between sponsors, MITRE project leaders, and MITRE's accreditation officials to obtain formal accreditation to operate classified information systems.
  • Working in a classified environment where there are government compliance audits.
  • Independently identifying relevant technologies/topics and learning new technical skills.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an Associates degree with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education, certifications and work experience.
  • Working knowledge of server and client operating systems (Win10/11, Srv2016+, RHEL, Ubuntu Linux).
  • Fundamental understanding of lab IT architecture.
  • Fundamental understanding of system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Security+ Certification / 8570 Certification - IAT Level II.
  • Fundamental understanding of operating system command-line tools.
  • Ability to interface with customers and provide a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to function effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others.

Nice-to-haves
