About the position

The IT System Administrator at General Dynamics Mission Systems plays a crucial role in maintaining the security and integrity of Information Systems within the Department of Defense. This position involves supporting the Information System Risk Management Framework, conducting vulnerability assessments, and ensuring compliance with security policies. The role requires a proactive approach to system administration, focusing on both RHEL and Windows environments, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance system security and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Support Information System Risk Management Framework activities including categorizing systems and preparing IS packages.
  • Review vulnerability scans and execute Change Control processes.
  • Maintain the day-to-day security posture and continuous monitoring of Information Systems for DoD security programs.
  • Conduct security event and information management review and analysis.
  • Perform end user account audits and system audit reviews.
  • Install and configure servers as needed.
  • Execute security testing and evaluation to ensure correct implementation of security controls.
  • Support the assessment and mitigation of vulnerabilities throughout a system's life cycle.
  • Perform incident response and cleanup actions when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or equivalent plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph required at time of hire.
  • Experience with RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and Windows Administration.
  • Proficiency with system security assessment/hardening tools such as SCAP Compliance Checker, STIG Viewer, ACAS/Nessus.
  • Trained and proficient in Assured File Transfer (AFT) procedures.
  • Self-starter with the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.

  • DoD 8570 Certification meeting IAM Level I (e.g., Security + CE, CAP, GSLC).
  • Adjudicated polygraph.
