Position Overview: If you are an analytical, technically savvy, recent MIS or IT graduate with an interest in starting a career in Systems Analysis, IT Project Management, or IT consulting, this may be an ideal career opportunity for you. Align seeks an entry-level, recent college graduate. Any internship or entry-level (one year or less) work experience with IT analysis including IT Infrastructure, Data Center, or Cloud would be a plus, but is not required. This role will provide broad experience including IT Systems Analysis, Project Management, Consulting, and hands-on IT Infrastructure Installation. This person will work with our Data Center Migration team focused on Application Migration to perform hands-on application migration planning for data center relocation projects. You will work on current state to future state infrastructure assessment projects and will learn about IT Infrastructure Transformation. This person will work with senior consultants to help perform hands-on current state assessment projects, including application migration planning for data center IT infrastructure relocation and consolidation projects. This person will learn to manage complex projects, working in a matrix environment to plan, schedule, and execute projects for various-sized enterprise clients (infrastructure, storage, network, server, and IT appliances, etc.). This role is not a hands-on developer role, but will have an understanding of application migration planning in the context of Data Center moves and consolidations. The focus of the role is in mapping application dependencies in the physical data center infrastructure and determining strategies and plans to move the applications either physically (lift and shift) or moving the applications to new infrastructure or even into the cloud. This role is based out of our Iselin, NJ office, but will primarily work remote. The position requires regular travel, based on client project requirements. This is a full-time position offering full benefits, a base salary in the $60K to $68K range (commensurate with experience), paid training, and performance-based bonuses.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to conduct business analysis functions to understand application dependencies and help create migration strategies and plans for moving applications and workloads physically or logically as part of data center infrastructure relocation or consolidation projects.
  • Act as a Business Analyst on the team working with senior Project Managers or Technology Transformation consultants to drive technology infrastructure from current state to future state with a focus on data center migration.
  • Work with senior team members to be a hands-on resource for Application Dependency Mapping, Profiling, and Infrastructure 'Right Sizing'.
  • Be available to work nights and weekends as needed for migration windows.
  • Help perform physical data center migration activities, such as physically installing equipment and dressing the cables in a cabinet.
  • Complete application dependency and affinity group mapping using both manual processes and utilizing tools, such as Device42.
  • Utilize and lead, when applicable, all manual processes such as workshops, application owner meetings, and architectural diagram analysis to gather required dependency and configuration information.
  • Learn to lead and conduct workshops with Application Owners and work with Project Managers to put together migration plans.
  • Assist with the creation of Statements of Work and support the sales process.
  • Work with Project Managers to help manage the project teams including Align, the client, and the vendors throughout the project.
  • Gather documentation and build and develop a delivery plan for all the work streams.
  • Manage all relevant migration plans and wave event planning (i.e., run books, execution plans).
  • Work as a hands-on resource for physical data center migrations as needed.
  • Advise clients on potential risk, and manage client expectations.
  • Continually improve the process and framework and update our migration solution.

Requirements

  • MIS or IT related bachelor's degree.
  • Any relevant internship or work experience related to IT Infrastructure, Data Centers, or Business Analysis would be a plus.
  • Qualified individuals will be able to work successfully in fast-paced enterprise-level environments requiring exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • A general, holistic understanding of IT infrastructure inclusive of server, storage, network, database, systems, DR/business recovery and continuity practices, etc.
  • A basic understanding of data center functions, technologies, and interdependencies would be preferred.
  • A foundational understanding of public cloud models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and providers (AWS, Azure, Google).
  • Basic experience working on data center infrastructure migration or IT transformation projects including assessment, migration, consolidation, or virtualization, etc. would be a plus.
  • Any knowledge or familiarity with Device42 or similar CMDB, Application Mapping, Affinity Group Mapping or Device Discovery Tools would be a plus.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills are required.
  • Knowledge of MS Project, PowerPoint, Visio, and Office tools to manage plans, charts, reports, and documentation, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic experience working on data center infrastructure migration or IT transformation projects including assessment, migration, consolidation, or virtualization, etc. would be a plus.
  • Any knowledge or familiarity with Device42 or similar CMDB, Application Mapping, Affinity Group Mapping or Device Discovery Tools would be a plus.
