About the position

The City of Chandler Information Technology Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as an IT Systems Analyst. This position is integral to our mission of providing extraordinary service to our customers through the use of cutting-edge technology and business automation tools. The IT Systems Analyst will work within a diverse and inclusive environment, scheduled to work 5 days a week, 8 hours per day. The role involves analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and repairing network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, security appliances, and monitoring/reporting systems. As part of the Information Technology department, the IT Systems Analyst will coordinate the use of computer technology across various city departments to ensure accurate and timely information is available to citizens, elected officials, management, and staff. Responsibilities also include providing technology services and support, consulting, business process analysis, and project management. The successful candidate will ensure network security and performance standards are met, troubleshoot and resolve basic network issues, and participate in network-related projects. Responsibilities

  • Assist in analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and repairing network infrastructure.
  • Support the management and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, security appliances, and monitoring/reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide exceptional service and support.
  • Ensure network security and performance standards are met.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic network issues promptly.
  • Participate in network-related projects and contribute to team initiatives.
  • Develop and implement network policies, procedures, and standards under guidance.
  • Conduct network performance assessments and optimize configurations with supervision.
  • Assist in maintaining disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Document network configurations, changes, and maintenance activities thoroughly.
  • Stay current with emerging network technologies, including cloud networking technologies and industry trends.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices in network security and data protection.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in network support and administration.
  • Basic knowledge of network protocols, routing, and switching.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Entry-level network certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent).
  • Experience with network security appliances and firewalls.
  • Understanding of basic network security principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of wireless networking technologies.
  • Understanding of cloud network technologies and their implementation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with end-users and team members.
