About the position

The City of Chandler Information Technology Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as an IT Systems Analyst. This position is scheduled to work 5 days a week, 8 hours per day. As part of Team Chandler, we drive innovation to provide exceptional service to our community. Our team manages the city's enterprise computer network, systems, and applications, ensuring accurate and timely information is available across all city departments. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our cutting-edge infrastructure. Key responsibilities include designing and managing Microsoft-based solutions, administering Linux servers, implementing VMware virtualization solutions, developing security policies, managing cloud infrastructure, and overseeing Microsoft 365 administration. You will also monitor system performance, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and stay current with emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement and innovation. Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage Microsoft-based solutions, including Windows Server and Active Directory.
  • Administer and maintain Linux servers and environments.
  • Implement and manage VMware virtualization solutions.
  • Develop and enforce security policies and procedures.
  • Configure and manage Azure Single Sign-On (SSO).
  • Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure and services, focusing on Azure.
  • Oversee the administration and support of Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online and SharePoint.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support innovative business initiatives.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Manage Windows Updates and VMware Updates.
  • Administer and maintain Active Directory, including Azure AD.
  • Manage system certificates and DNS configurations.
  • Ensure compatibility and support for Microsoft Windows environments.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of systems configurations and processes.
  • Oversee the management of Windows and Linux servers.
  • Manage Distributed File System (DFS) and file systems.
  • Ensure accurate Network Time Protocol (NTP) settings.
  • Manage Linux CUPS printing services.
  • Handle VRA/VRO automation and GPO management.
  • Oversee Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) for updates.
  • Manage datacenter operations, including managing fiber switches for SAN.
  • Maintain scripts and scheduled tasks on servers.
  • Implement and manage VxRail, Dell PowerStore, SAN/NAS technologies.
  • Manage Rubrik backup and other backup technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft products (Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Strong experience with Linux administration.
  • Proficiency in VMware virtualization technologies.
  • Solid understanding of security principles and best practices.
  • Experience with Azure SSO and cloud services.
  • Expertise in Microsoft 365 administration and support.
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure and protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional, CompTIA Security+, etc.) are a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Extensive experience with Windows Server administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in managing Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) for patch management.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and task management.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for deploying and managing Windows applications.
  • Understanding of Windows security best practices, including managing firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Experience with Azure Active Directory and integration with on-premises Active Directory environments.
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions for Windows environments.
  • Knowledge of file system management, including Distributed File System (DFS) and Network File System (NFS).
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, particularly VMware, in a Windows environment.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and automation tools.
  • Knowledge and experience with VxRail, Dell PowerStore, SAN technologies, and Rubrik backup solutions.
