About the position

This position is for an experienced IT Systems Administrator and Engineer who will work on classified engineering networks and special test equipment. The role involves leading technical execution efforts and managing system administration across various operating systems, ensuring cyber compliance, and maintaining hardware integrity. The candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, application support, and implementing security measures in a full-time onsite capacity.

Responsibilities

  • System administration of heterogeneous networks including Windows 10/11, Windows Server, and Linux distributions.
  • Manage operating system cyber compliance, upgrades, and patching for Windows and Linux.
  • Perform guidance and management for hardware, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Ensure the integrity and availability of applications, coordinating new installations and upgrades in classified areas.
  • Implement effective backup/recovery, resource accounting, and auditing procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain varied IT hardware such as PCs, printers, and laptops.
  • Gather system security design requirements and develop architecture with stakeholders.
  • Implement security designs in hardware, software, data, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • US Citizenship required at this facility
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 qualified certificate
  • Experience with Linux or Unix operating systems
  • Experience with Windows operating systems
  • Ability to install operating system security patches and firmware updates
  • Experience in creating/managing security groups
  • Ability to coordinate hardware repair activities
  • Experience in diagnosing and resolving hardware/software problems
  • Ability to create scripts to automate system administration tasks
  • Experience in creating/editing Standard Operating Instructions (SOI) documentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise with RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Expertise with Windows Server OS
  • Expertise administering virtual machines with VMWare ESXi
  • Experience performing root cause analysis for problem resolution in Unix and Linux environments
  • Experience in routine server/workstation patching
  • Advanced proficiency in scripting (shell/Ansible/Powershell)
  • Experience in installing server and associated hardware
  • Experience in installing/configuring software applications and programs
  • Ability to provide support to operations groups requiring off-shift and possible travel
  • Experience managing servers in a disconnected environment
  • Experience with vulnerability remediation and security management.
