About the position

The IT Systems Project Manager is responsible for establishing and implementing best practices for IT project management across the organization. This role involves managing all aspects of project management, including research, design, planning, development, implementation, and maintenance, while coordinating efforts of team members and third-party contractors to ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Review new project requests, validate scope, and coordinate development of work effort estimates and estimated costs.
  • Develop high-level plans to determine estimated timing of new projects.
  • Validate high-level resource requirements against resource availability and recommend sourcing options.
  • Develop and maintain project plans.
  • Effectively manage project teams' time and allocate resources to ensure deliverables are completed.
  • Negotiate with managers for acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
  • Ensure project team members, vendors, and stakeholders follow project management standards and utilize standard templates.
  • Establish project progress meetings with team members and relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure project documentation is completed, including sign-off on key deliverables.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes.
  • Publish weekly status reports to all stakeholders.
  • Build, develop, and grow business relationships vital to project success.
  • Escalate issues and status changes as appropriate.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate to involved parties throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team leads, members, and contractors, positively influencing action and accountability.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within and between project team members.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct project post-mortems and create recommendations reports to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field from an accredited institution (combination of education and experience may be substituted).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in IT project management, including all aspects of process development and execution.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in software development and supervision.
  • Demonstrated strong project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of project management software (e.g., MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio, Project Server or Project Online).
  • Technically competent with ERP software programs.
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated skills in developing and deploying project best practices, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Demonstrated conflict management skills and ability to facilitate relations between business groups and technology departments.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
