About the position

The main purpose of this position is to support the continuing operation of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Information Technology systems, thereby maintaining and providing data, information, and communication services to DPSCS, criminal justice agencies and the public. This position engages in every aspect of network administration, network design, desktop/group policies, information security, and configuration management for the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. The position provides a broad range of IT support needed to update and replace existing IT systems with new technology, as well as maintain legacy systems and provide ongoing operational support. The primary responsibility is to perform in-depth analysis, and implementation of information technology products suitable for implementation in the DPSCS environment with regard to network security, and functionality, to include all devices (PCs, servers, routers, firewalls, etc.) on the network. Consults with vendors, Systems and Operations staff in evaluating problem solutions designed to facilitate efficient and secure end user use of DPSCS computing resources, includes coordinating problem reporting, recognition, research, isolation and resolution. This position manages and coordinates projects, operations, vendors and staff within the DPSCS operations business units in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support the operation of DPSCS Information Technology systems.
• Engage in network administration, design, desktop/group policies, information security, and configuration management.
• Perform in-depth analysis and implementation of IT products for network security and functionality.
• Consult with vendors and staff to evaluate problem solutions.
• Coordinate problem reporting, recognition, research, isolation, and resolution.
• Manage and coordinate projects, operations, vendors, and staff within DPSCS.

Requirements

• Eight years of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software.
• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in a relevant field can substitute for four years of experience.
• Experience operating computer systems or evaluating, implementing and maintaining computer hardware and software can substitute for a high school education on a year-for-year basis.
• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field can substitute for four years of experience.

• Experience working as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.
• CompTIA A+ certification.
